In our experience of designing for the tech industry, we have seen almost every variety of company logo come across our desktops. There have been bold logos in ALL CAPS and colored red to prove to you that they were a large mega corporation that gets the job done. While others were set completely in lowercase in softer hues to give you the perception of a smaller company that is more organic co-op than football field sized server farm.

There have been any number of swooshes, swirls, banded stripes, arrows and a menagerie of logos that range from super abstract to nonsensical at best. We won't even lie to ourselves, we are guilty of the "swooshing" logo trend of the early 2000's.

But then we thought, "Wait a minute...We've never seen a tech company logo look back at us...smile at us or even wink at us like it should be fun to use this app or the web in general." Those initial observations are the inspiration for the fun and light-hearted nature of the User Friendly identity.
